In this sermon, pastor Tim Melton looks at King Solomon’s descent into idolatry in 1 Kings 11:1-10. Solomon directly disobey God and intermarried with many foreign women who turned his heart toward idolatry and away from worshiping Christs. Hebrews 11:2 says that, “He clung to these in love.” This not only describes the nature of Solomon’s heart toward his wives, but also toward their gods. Pastor Melton explains that idolatry is really the same thing as addiction. He goes on to tell us that idolatry is ultimately defeated, not by trying to kill them in our own strength, but by turning to Jesus and exalting him.
