Jim Braden- Interim Senior Pastor
Jim Braden is a native to Toledo, Ohio. After receiving a call into ministry, shortly after his conversion, he enrolled at Columbia Bible College and later received a B.A. in Anthropology from Nyack College in 1968. He married his wife Phyllis and enrolled at Bethel Theological Seminary in the same year. He completed his Masters of Divinity in New Testament in 1972 and served 13 years in Christian & Missionary Alliance pastorates in New Jersey and Ohio. He then pursued studies at Covenant Theological Seminary from 1985-1987, earning a Masters in Biblical Studies and Pastoral Care. He served Cross Creek Presbyterian Church(PCA) in Fayetteville, North Carolina from 1987-2011. He is currently serving at Surfside Presbyterian as the Interim Senior Pastor.
Brian Peterson- Pastor Elect
Brian Peterson was born and raised in southern California in a Roman Catholic home. He came to Christ at age 19 as a student at Chico State University in northern California. After college and prior to seminary, Brian worked for a commercial real estate firm and then Campus Crusade for Christ. He was introduced to the PCA through an inner-city ministry in New Orleans, where he lived before moving to Jackson, MS, for seminary. Brian earned his MDiv at Reformed Theological Seminary and is now pursuing his DMin in historical theology at RTS Charlotte. His particular area of focus is Colonial Presbyterianism. Brian and his wife Anna, have been married 19 years. They are the parents of seven children, ranging in age from 17 to 7. Brian enjoys developing their interest in golf, hiking, woodworking and early American history.
