Dear SPC Church Family,
In Luke 15:22-24, when the Prodigal Son returned to his Father, “The father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” The Father was so happy and filled with joy that he held a celebration for all to enjoy.
Those of you who have known the Melton family over these last several years might understand that this is exactly what we feel like as we approach our daughter Callie’s upcoming wedding on March 25th, 2017 at 4pm at Surfside PCA. So many of you in our church have grieved with us and prayed with us as we watched our daughter reject Christ and leave the church back in 2011. During this painful time, you encouraged us and reminded us of the Gospel and of God’s abundant grace. Then you celebrated with us as we saw the Lord eventually capture Callie’s heart and start to make her a new!
And so it is with great joy that we would like to invite our church family at SPC to join us in another celebration. Mr. Drew Nelson has put a ring on our daughter’s finger. Someone has killed a fattened calf. Gerry Friedman, our esteemed chef at SPC, is cooking it up for us. And we are having a feast to celebrate! This daughter of ours was dead and is alive again; she was lost and now is found; she is marrying a man who loves Jesus even more than he loves her; and we are having a party!!!
If you would like to join us in this celebration, please RSVP using this link: http://bit.ly/drewllie
Since we are inviting our church family, as well as Drew’s family and out of town friends, it is super important that you RSVP by March 15th so that we can have enough seats and food!!!
We are so thankful that many of you have offered to help us with the reception. Some of the help we’ll need is as follows:
- Our reception will basically be like an SPC Wednesday night supper, except outside. So, we will need help getting the food outside to the serving tables. We’ll also need some folks to help prepare tossed salad, folks in charge of tea and water, folks to clean up the kitchen, and folks to help take down decorations, tables, and chairs in order to make the church facilities ready for Sunday worship. If you would like to be part of our serving or clean up crew, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know!
- If you have white decorative Christmas lights (not the icicle kind) that we could borrow for the reception, please drop them off in Tim’s office at the church.
- If you would like to donate a pie (cobbler, pecan or chocolate chess) please contact Cindy Milz (email@example.com).
Again, much thanks to our church family for the way you have invested in our lives, helped bear our burdens, and celebrated our joys!
Blessings to all!
Tim and Martha Jo Melton
