Sunday’s Sermon, January 29: The Parable of the Talents/Investing Your Life – This Sunday we will continue our sermon series called “Don’t Follow Christ from a Distance.” In Matthew 25:14-30, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your Master… For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”
This Sunday, we will look at what it means to invest your life in the gospel, especially in light of the riches we enjoy in eternally possessing the great Treasure of Christ.
Some things to think about as your prepare to worship with us:
- Did you know that a single talent (which is a measure of money) was equal to the amount that a laborer would earn during his entire lifetime? In our economy, a talent would be worth $700,000.
- Notice that in the parable, the person who was given the least amount of money was the one who was considered unfaithful. Yet, his sin was not the lack of money that he had. What was his sin?
- What do you think Jesus is saying when he says, “You have been faithful over a little?” Considering that the man who had 5 talents was stewarding $3.5 million, and after investing it he grew it to $7 million, how is it that Jesus refers to this as “little?”
Ushers Needed – Attention Men! Ushers needed for our 9:45 or 11:15 Sunday worship services, If you are interested in serving as an usher, please contact James Booth at firstname.lastname@example.org or call him at the church office 843-650-2020.

Please join people around the US as they demonstrate God’s love by loving their neighbors through the Souper Bowl of Caring.
