All checks should be made out to Surfside Presbyterian Church in memo “South Strand Helping Hand”. We will have ushers standing ready with their soup bowl for your donation. imageSunday’s Sermon, January 24:  – This Sunday we will continue our sermon series called “Don’t Follow Christ from a Distance.”  In John 13:3-5, the scriptures tell us that “Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”

This Sunday, we will look at this beautiful account of how our Savior and King is also our Chief Servant.  Because Christ knew where he came from and knew where he was going, he was free to serve and give his life away.  The good news is that because of Christ, we also know whose we are and where we are going.  This great assurance frees us to serve without fear of losing because what we have in Christ can never be taken away.  If you would like to prepare your heart for the sermon, please read John 13.
