Congregational MeetingCongregational Meeting – Sunday May 3, at 12:30 pm
On April 20, 2015 the Session held its scheduled joint quarterly meeting with the Diaconate. This was an exciting time and an opportunity for the full body of church officers to further discuss the long-standing issue (and blessing!) of having gone beyond the comfortable capacity of our existing church campus. An expansion plan has been proposed, and unanimously supported by both the Session and Diaconate, which we believe will enhance our church community experience. It is a project that can be completed in months rather than years and will not lead the congregation into any significant long-term debt. A congregational meeting has been called by the Session on Sunday May 3rd at 12:30pm at SPC for the purposes of approving a proposed campus expansion plan that will include: enlargement of the existing sanctuary and Narthex, the addition of an elevator in the education wing, parking improvement, youth ministry relocation, and kitchen modification. The congregation will also be asked to consider and approve a credit facility (construction line of credit) not to exceed $1,000,000, supported by a 1st mortgage against the current property. As members of the corporation, SPC members of the congregation will be asked to appoint Senior Pastor Julian Riddle as President, and current Clerk of Session Will Parker as Secretary of the corporation, for the purpose of securing signing authority with regard to any banking and construction documents.  This is an important meeting and we would urge all members to make every effort to attend.
