Worship Service Time Changes

Surfside Church, please note that we be adjusting the times of our worship services. The Worship Committee and Session has approved these changes to begin on Sunday October 5.  We would like our ABF leaders to begin sharing this change and preparing for their groups accordingly. The new time slots will be:

8:30 – Contemporary
9:45 Contemporary
11:15 Traditional

There are several reasons we are making this change. As you know, we started the early worship service to make room for growth at the middle hour worship service (currently 9:30 contemporary).  Ideally, we would like to see at least 75 worshippers at our early service.  We feel that this will give us the “critical mass” we need to make this service viable and vibrant.  So far, we have been averaging about 30 worshippers.  Meanwhile, our middle hour service continues to be overfull. As we looked at the fall season, we realized that by November the mornings will be darker, making it even more difficult to attend the early worship hour. We have also heard from a number of people who have told us that they would attend the early hour if it began at 8:30 instead of 8.  Therefore, we are making these changes in hopes of accomplishing our goal of having 75 worshippers at the early hour.

In addition to these changes, we are asking our Adult Bible Fellowship groups to adjust the times of their meetings to 9:45 & 11:15 in order to mirror the new worship service times.  Again, we are planning to make these changes on Sunday, October 5 – so please mark your calendars accordingly.
